Many of the post WWII cuckoo clocks have pine cone weights with their weight, in grams, visible on their sides* Since weights on a cuckoo (coo coo) clock are of equal weight, this makes it very easy if you need to order a replacement from a clock parts supplier. In the event you have a weight, without a marking, you can simply weigh it on an ounce scale and then convert to grams using the chart provided below. If you don’t have an ounce scale, take a trip down to your nearest Post Office! Remember to convert ounces to grams. What if all the weights are missing from your cuckoo? The easiest way to find out the replacement weight is to attach just enought weight on the end of the cuckoo clock chain until either the time train or the strike/cuckoo train operates correctly. Then weigh in ounces, convert to grams, and order the closest weight available below.
* Some of the older cuckoo clock weights may have a single number mark on their sides, such as 1, 2, 3, or 4. These were part numbers used by workmen in the factories to help them match the correct weight to cuckoo being prepared for shipment, and are of no use in finding a replacement weight from the clock part supply companies.
